Did you know you can scan free channels from a Philips TV?
Most televisions, whether they’re old or new, are often used as a monitor where you can connect a cable box, streaming device, or gaming console to the HDMI port.
However, a lot of people who are new to the idea of using a TV antenna to receive free local channels may not realize that Smart Android TVs still have a built-in digital tuner.
When you connect the TV antenna to a Philips Android TV, for example, you can actually scan local over-the-air broadcast channels, all of which are free of charge.
Here’s how to scan channels on Philips TV, whether it’s old or new.
How to scan channels on older Philips TV
First, make sure your TV antenna is connected to the RF jack on the back of the television. The port located on the back of your television is often labeled ANT IN on most Philips televisions.
Next, position the antenna correctly, facing the direction of the broadcast towers in your area. This ensures maximum coverage and prevents the picture from becoming pixelated or blocky.
Once you’ve connected the coax cable and positioned the antenna, follow these steps:
- Press the MENU button on the remote control.
- Select Setup from the list of options in the menu window.
- Select Antenna from the list of options in the setup window.
- Once Antenna has been selected, navigate to Autoprogram and press OK on the remote control. You’ll be prompted to select between Antenna or Cable.
- Select Antenna.
This will rescan all channels, which may take more than 20 minutes to complete. Once the process is done, you’ll see the words Autoprogram Completed on the screen.
